Artist's Statement
Artist’s Statement: Looking to learn, learning to look. There is magic in the line for me, always magic in the line. What flows from the end of the pen, the brush dipped in colour, the chalk, the charcoal, the stick of graphite defines my world in a particular way, and so my journey as an artist has been a life-long affair with the beauty of line, form and colour. Over the past fifteen years my main focus has been watercolours and, more recently, acrylics. As well, I rejoice in print making and the odd collage, and drawing—always drawing... The challenge in any medium is to capture a sense of time—an eternal moment—and place. That spontaneity, that sense of freshness, is what makes art alive for viewer and artist alike. While I may draw the line, I am also drawn by the line—and by form and colour—into an awareness of the beauty of life so easily taken for granted.
